High Altitude Pulmonary Edema

2019 - Photoshop and Illustrator

This spread on High Altitude Pulmonary Edema was completed for a BMC course on pathology visualizations. The purpose of this project was to create an illustrated spread about disease progression aimed at a lay audience. I wanted to tackle the topic of HAPE after reading numerous news articles about Everest in the spring of 2019 as well as Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. The whole composition revolves around the idea of symptoms worsening at higher altitudes, so I used steep diagonal lines as the basis of the design. Progress images coming soon.
